Brake Parachute Release Units

Flight Refuelling Limited design and manufacture Brake Parachute Release Units that are used to release the Brake Parachute upon aircraft landing by either manual or electronic activation.

The system normally has two functions; firstly to retain safely, during flight, the parachute strop fitting and secondly to retain then release the parachute once deployed.

Manual activation can take place by means of a lever mechanism however more widely used is the continuous supply of electrical power to keep the unit locked until the supply is removed by means of a jettison command from the pilot.

Should inadvertent deployment of the parachute take place, the unit allows release of it without causing structural damage to the aircraft.

Our expert team of engineers can design and develop units to suit customer specification however current applications include Jaguar and Eurofighter Typhoon.
