Cobham's 902E Refuelling System Achieves Initial Operating Capability On AFSOC MC-130H

Cobham Air Refuelling & Auxiliary Mission Equipment’s latest 902E refuelling system has achieved initial operating capability (IOC) on MC-130H ‘Combat Talon II’ with the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) after successful flight trials on a range of platforms.

The refuelling system, which utilises the latest 900E series refuelling technology, is controlled via a multi-mode glass-cockpit display by an all-new advanced digital control system which automatically re-configures hose response through a state of the art electric drive. Fitted as an upgrade to the Air Force Special Operations Command’s fleet of MC-130H aircraft, the 902E refuelling system gives the Special Forces enhanced operational flexibility, allowing the refuelling of multiple platforms on the same mission, within a 100 – 180 knot speed range.

This system has undergone an extensive qualification programme on CH-47, CH-53, CH-60 and V-22 platforms and continues to exceed end user expectations. To support this contract, a Cobham MRO facility has been set-up with Boeing next to Hulbert Field, Florida. - the home of the Special Forces.

Richard Tyson, Managing Director, Cobham Air Refuelling and Auxiliary Mission Equipment, said,

“This milestone proves operational robustness of Cobham’s latest generation of refuelling systems, giving unparalleled levels of functionality and reliability. Cobham are delighted that AFSOC are now operational with this unrivalled refuelling capability and we will give a comprehensive level of in service support to this key programme.“
