Cobham Air Refuelling & Auxiliary Mission Equipment has secured follow-on orders for its telescopic refuelling probe on the V-22 platform.
Originally downselected for its innovative approach to probe design, the division’s solution is mounted on the front starboard side of the platform and boasts a patented 4 tube telescopic design that allows the probe to be flush with the nose of the aircraft when retracted (to facilitate shipboard operations) and extend to approximately 15 feet long when fully extended.
The order covers production probes for Lots 10 and 11 of the V-22 programme that are scheduled for delivery between May 2007 and August 2009.
Richard Tyson, Managing Director, Cobham Air Refuelling and Auxiliary Mission Equipment, said,
“This contract win reaffirms the division’s capability as the most innovative supplier of probe refuelling solutions and secures the production of probes for this platform for the next 2 years. We are hopeful of receiving a substantial future multi-year buy for this probe and are leveraging a range of other platforms for such technology where space envelope, aerodynamics and extended length are prime considerations.“
